My Philosophy of Personal Development as Related to the Activities at the Center
I believe we can all lead happier and more fulfilling lives when we are able to see ourselves objectively and with greater insight. Often we are too busy, too distracted, or going "inside" (our thoughts and feelings) is too uncomfortable. We usually spend a great deal of energy keeping our thoughts and perceptions about ourselves buried deep in our subconscious. This is because we misperceive much of our past as being evidence of our short-comings. "I didn't measure up here", "I didn't handle that very well", "There must be a reason I felt rejected by them", etc.
At one time it was legitimate to cover up these self-statements. We didn't want to give a less than positive self-image any more ammunition than it had already. The issue is that burying them doesn't eliminate them. Often it magnifies them. The subconscious process becomes, "they must be real if I spent so much time and energy pushing these self-definitions away". Of course this process usually isn't available to us consciously, but the statements can come to define us anyway.
The idea of most therapy is to create a safe environment where these out-of-date ideas can be examined and released. It is just that because we have painful associations with them, this can often be a challenging process.
The point of my work is to make this a much more comfortable and approachable process by training you to be in greater control of your emotional state before you begin uncomfortable explorations, if you ever even need to. Often just the level of newness, challenge and stimulation of using the equipment releases a lot of inner anxieties or fears automatically. This is because you are engaging so much more of the brain and it is working more in concert with the nervous system of the entire body. When you feel more in control, the brain defines you as being safe and thus more confident in your ability to handle emotionally fraught material.
Through the utilization of the technologies, the process is doubly effective. This is because another effect of their use is that so much more processing engages more brain circuits. So all the clearing you accomplish is more completely integrated and released. Also, any intentions and plans you develop carry more weight.
