Chair Therapy: 2 Options

Two tools that many people find helpful are the ‘So Sound’ Chair and the ‘Symmatron Motion Chair’. Try either or both. (They are located at The Dallas Center.)

THE “SO SOUND” CHAIR

As you recline back and are surrounded by a sound bath emanating from the perfectly contoured lounge, the stresses of life melt away. This is because the chair is one molded piece of carbon fiber that has been designed to perfectly transmit the complex vibrations that the transducers set in motion. As the various frequencies move through the body they initiate two key processes….
1) They gently massage every cell of our body down to and including our bones. This is carried out by music that has been chosen with specific objectives in mind. Relaxation is always one outcome, but through the interaction of the music and the chair, we can move into a unique state that could be called “relaxed alertness”. As it reads all the stimulation created by the vibrations, the brain activates all of its circuits to explore what is occurring.
2) This amount of processing grounds the energy of our, typically overactive, nervous system. As this occurs, the brain is working to understand the novel sensations it is experiencing. The brain’s typical response to unique sensations is alarm, or at least concern. But in this case, the overall experience is relaxation. Thus the brain can integrate the awareness that unexpected experiences don’t necessarily imply a threat. We can then learn to embrace life more directly.

HEALING, ENERGIZING

THE SYMMATRON MOTION CHAIR

The main function of this chair, as the word “Motion” in the name implies, is to move. As you recline in the “Zero Gravity” chair it gently revolves in a constant, even flow. The speed and direction of rotation are set according to the objectives of the session. It is, at the same time, relaxing and stimulating as mentioned in relation to the “SO” chair, while having its own unique impact on the mind/body system. It’s strongly stimulates the vestibular, or balance, system of the body. The vestibular system plays a key role in much of our neurological processing. It is reading where every part of our body is in space. It is keeping us upright and balanced no matter what activity we’re engaging in. And has many other functions that are pervasive to the entire body. When it has been stimulated in a general repetitive motion, it is making the association that a lot of stimulation, once again, doesn’t have to be the sign of a threat. The vestibular system is such a major aspect of our brain’s activity that having it carry the message of balance and flow affects us deeply. It translates to accessing an emotional state of peace and comfort. (no picture)
